Description

Pictured are the remains of the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, now dubbed the Hiroshima Peace Memorial. On August 6, 1945 at 8:15 A.M., the Little Boy atomic bomb was detonated above the city of Hiroshima, killing an estimated 140,000 people. Just 500 feet from the center of the explosion, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, or A-bomb dome, has been left untouched from the day of the bombing to "convey to the world the horrors and the inhumane nature of nuclear weapons and spread the message of 'No more Hiroshimas.'"
