Description

This handwritten letter, circa 1988, from a student to members of Congress, is regarding the Union County, Kentucky, grave desecration. This is one of dozens of similar letters sent to Congress as part of a campaign to influence tougher legislation on the looting of burial sites.

Dear Congressmen, 

I'm writing you to give you my view of what is happening in Union County. The Indians have a point you should not let the archeologists dig up [their] ancestors. Who knows maybe one of those skeletons are one of your ancestors. So think about it and stop this digging up of graves. Hasn't there been enough going on with the Indians.
