Description

This original poster advertises the Big Mountain Diné Sundance held from July 4-6, 1986. Art on the poster depicts a closed fist on the headdress of an Indian man as well as an animal skull. Text on the poster reads: "In dedication to Mother Earth and all her children." On July 6th, U.S. authorities intended to move 11,000 Diné (Navajo) people from the land around Big Mountain, Arizona. This ended in an encampment being created to protest the forced removal of people.
