Tauf=Schein./Diesen beyden Ehegatten, als Jonatan Jund und seiner Ehelichen/Haus=Frau Catharina eine gebohrne Hiesterin uns/ist ein Söhnlein zur Welt/gebohren, Namens im Jahr unsers HErrn JEsu 1809 den 28ten/Tag Ma[y] um 9 Uhr Vormittags im Zeichen des Schitzes/Dieser Jonathan ist Gebohren und Getauft in Amerika, im Staat Pennsilvania im Bercks Caunty, in Cumrÿ/Taunschip, dieser Obgemelde ist Getauft worden, den /vom Herrn Pfarrer Paulÿ Tauf=Zeugen Wilhelm Spohn/

WAnn wir kaum gebohren werden, ist vom ersten Lebenstritt, bis ins kühle Grab der Erden, Nur ein kurz gemessener Schritt. Ach mit jedem Augenblick!/Gehet unsere Kraft zurück, und wir sind mit jedem Jahre, allzu reif zur Todenbahre; Und wer weiß in welcher Stunde, uns die letzte Stimme weckt/Dann GOtt hat’s mit seinem Munde, Keinem Menschen noch endeckt. Wer sein Haus nun wohl bestellt, geht mit Freuden aus der Welt,/Da die Sicherheit hingegen; Ewigs Sterben kan erregen.

Translation

Baptismal Certificate. To both of these spouses, Jonatan Jund and his legal wife Catharina a born Hiester is a little son to the world born, named in the year of our Lord Jesus 1809 the 28th day of May at 9 o’clock in the morning in the sign of the (?). This Jonathan was born and baptized in America, in the state of Pennsylvania in Berks County, in Cumru Township. This above-mentioned was baptized the by Mister Pastor Pauly. Baptismal sponsors William Spohn.

Examining the paper on which a piece was printed can often yield clues about the fraktur. This fraktur was folded into eighths at one time, perhaps to fit inside a book or drawer. In the upper corners, small lines indicate the register marks of the printing press.
