Comment

This unknown artist included the verse of the usual baptismal hymns within the four hearts, read counter-clockwise starting at the top. When he ran out of room for the last part of the text in the left heart, he squeezed it in at the start of the text in the bottom heart. The artist was likely familiar with the work of the Flying Angel artist (active c. 1780-1811), as the angels in the top corners of this piece are reminiscent of his work.
