Abstract
The struggle of body image for females has been a big part of how society reacts to what they see on social media. Influencers such as Lizzo promote body positivity in a raw and natural state that reaches more of a diverse demographic. This research will look closely at how Lizzo uses her platform and influence to spread body image positivity. Lizzo is a countercultural example of the evolution of the way females in particular see their bodies especially with popular influencers such as the Kardashian and Jenner family. Looking at the Kardashians, they are more of a normative example of what an ideal body shape and figure is supposed to look like based on what society has put in place as a normative for body standards. This research will identify and look into the role that social media has on body image while focusing on pop star Lizzo.
