Description

This image shows the front view of the canvas satchel carried by AIM activist John Thomas during the Longest Walk demonstration in 1978. The case was used to carry documents collected during the march across the United States. Images on the case were painted by companions along the way.

This painting depicts a dream catcher with feathers containing a sun, moon and stars along with an animal skull. The four colors of humanity - red, yellow, black and white - are found in circles above the dream catcher. An American Indian on horseback is depicted in the red circle while tipis are shown in the white circle.
