Description
This original poster advertises the Crow Dog Sun Dance held August 5-8, 1976 at the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. The poster features a photograph of spiritual leader Leonard Crow Dog who, at the time of this event, was serving a prison sentence for his role in the occupation of Wounded Knee. Text on the poster reads: "Crow Dog is in penitentiary but the Sun Dance will go on. Crow Dog is speaking to his nation."
The poster also contains a drawing of a pipe and has additional text giving some background information on the Sun Dance and logistical details for dancers and spiritual leaders.
