Comments
A volume from the private library of the Reverend John Henry Augustus Bomberger (1817-1890), founder and first President of Ursinus College.
This book of worship was the "approved directory" produced by the Peace Commission of 1878. Although not too different from the Mercersburg-inspired Order of Worship of 1866, it did eliminate hosts of "high church" phrases and rubrics offensive to Bomberger's Ursinus colleagues.
The book includes a handwritten note on page 110 regarding the baptism of adults.
