Description
Students created colorful glass projects in the interdisciplinary course "Form and Fusion: The Art and Science of Ceramics and Glass" at Ursinus College in Spring 2026. This photo shows student Anna McConnell's finished glass whale piece. This piece was part of a larger "Ocean" themed project which was presented to the campus as part of the Celebration of Student Achievement on April 29, 2026.
Student Statement
We wanted the glass to reflect an oceanic environment with bright colors of blue and white mixed with purples. To achieve this, we chose varying shades of textured glass for the cube to create a sea-like environment. Specifically for my cube, I felt it was important to include a clear piece of glass at the top of the structure to make my use of clay more visible and further enhance the setting.
