Sir:
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of the letter, dated March 16, which you felt it your duty to place in my hands this morning, in order to carry out your previous instructions. In deference to your wish, this communication has been made of record in the Department although, as you already understand, this step cannot but be merely formal, since the position of this Government is already well known to you through the Department's letter of yesterday.
Meanwhile I shall hold myself in readiness to have the honor of receiving the final reply of the Government of Nicaragua so soon as may be convenient, upon the receipt of the instructions which you informed me this morning you were momentarily awaiting.
Accept, Sir, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.
[signature]
Senor Dr. Don Rodolfo Espinosa,
Minister of Nicaragua.
