Many thanks for your kind note of the thirty-first. I have been very happy to cause to be conveyed to the President privately your courteous expressions of appreciation of what the President said to you on the occasion of your recent audience.

I am sure the President will be very glad to hear the better news from Spain, and I assure you that it is most welcome to me.
