Wann wir kaum gebohren werden, ist vom ersten Lebenstritt, bis zum kühle Grab der Erden, Nur ein kurz gemessener Schritt. Ach mit jedem Augenblick/Gehet unsere Kraft zurück, und wir sind mit jedem Jahre, allzu reif zur Todenbahre; Und wer weiß, in welcher Stunde, uns die letzte Stimme weckt;/Dann GOtt hat’s mit seinem Munde, Keinem Menschen noch endeckt. Ich bin getauft ob ich gleich sterbe,/Was schadet mir das kühle Grab,/Ich weiß mein Vaterland und Erbe,/ Das ich bey Gott im Himmel hab,/Nach meinem Tod ist mir/bereit, des Himmels/Freud, das fey=/erkleid.

Translation

Baptismal Certificate. To both of these spouses, Jacob Krick and his legal wife Catharina a born Joh[anne]s Bechtel is a daughter to the world born, named Mariana in the year of our Lord Jesus 1831 the 26th day of October at 11 o’clock in the morning in the sign of the . This Marianna was born and baptized in America, in the state of Pennsylvania County, Berks, Township, Cumru. Above-mentioned Mariana Krick was baptized the 12th of January 1831 by Mister W. Pauli. The baptismal sponsors were Maria Krick alone.

Another Taufschein of this edition, made for a Sussan May born February 24, 1843 to Jacob Krück and Catharina Bechle of Cumru Township, Berks County, is listed in Stopp, 2:213. In all likelihood this is for a sibling of the Mariana Krick whose certificate is pictured here. This Taufschein form is identical to PAG1998.168.
