Geburts=und Taufschein.

Translation

Birth and Baptismal Certificate.

When we are just born…

To both of these spouses, Daniel Faust and his legal wife Russina born Werner is a daughter to the world born, the 10th day of April in the year of our Lord 1854. This daughter was born in Wayne Township Schuylkill County, in the state of Pennsylvania in North America, and received through the holy Baptism the name Rebecca Eva the 28th day of May in the year 1854 by the Reverend Mister Meier. The baptismal sponsors were the parents themselves.

I was baptized in your name…/I was baptized, I stand in the union…/I was baptized, if I die immediately…

John P. Bertram, Printer, Pottsville, Pa.

Comment

The image of Love or Charity, the third virtue, at the top has been replaced by a lady playing a piano, which Bertram began using around 1840 in an English edition and continued using until about 1855, with the exception of two editions in which she was replaced by the American eagle.
