Prof. Schumacher

F. and M. College, Lancaster, Pa.

My dear Prof. Schumacher,

I need a bit of information. Dr. A. R. Wentz from Gettysburg Seminary with whom my husband was a faculty associate for some years until the time of his death thinks you are the person to whom I should appeal.

Can you and will you kindly recommend one or two books containing good humorous Penna Dutch - English readings and tell me where I can purchase the books?

I am enclosing a self-addressed stamped envelope for reply and shall greatly appreciate it if you will do us this favor. Our daughter, Mrs. H. D. Hammer (nee Marian Fischer) has been with her husband engaged in mission work in Buenos Aires, Argentina for some years. She is appealed to so often by missionary and lay groups from N. Amer. for readings. Her best bits are: "A Penna Dutch woman goes to learn Romeo and Juliet" and "A Penna Dutch Senator addresses his constituency."

I am sure that you will agree that folks away from their homeland for so long are entitled to all the humor we at home can provide - a sort of missionary service to missionaries!

Thanking you in advance

I am sincerely yours

Mrs. Alice G. Fischer
