Description
Students created colorful glass projects in the interdisciplinary course "Form and Fusion: The Art and Science of Ceramics and Glass" at Ursinus College in Spring 2026. In this photo a completed glass bear is held outside on the college campus. This project was presented to the campus as part of the Celebration of Student Achievement on April 29, 2026.
Student Statement
My team and I successfully made a stained-glass ceramic bear that felt really cohesive, so everything flowed together instead of looking like separate pieces. For my part, I mixed transparent and opaque glass to add a little depth and make certain areas stand out without clashing with the rest. I also paid attention to color placement and size so it all looked balanced as one piece. Something people might not notice right away is how the light hits the glass differently, which can change how the bear looks depending on the angle. My team and I are so happy with the outcome and are really proud of the work we have done! -- Gabriella Vassalluzzo
