Description

Students created colorful glass projects in the interdisciplinary course "Form and Fusion: The Art and Science of Ceramics and Glass" at Ursinus College in Spring 2026. In this photo, student Syd Libby's finished glass dog piece is on display in the Floy Lewis Bakes Center. This piece was part of her group's larger "Earth" themed project which was presented to the campus as part of the Celebration of Student Achievement on April 29, 2026.

Student Statement

I wanted to make a piece that was applicable to my group’s theme of the Earth, but something I care about to help motivate me to finish it quickly. I made my wonderful dog Max, and I finished it within a week. Since he is white, I wanted to include a mix of different white glasses of different opacities and textures. I think this helped add more depth to him and sparkle! My favorite part was adding his little eyes and teeth at the end. I feel like that really brought the piece to life.
