My dear Mrs. Hay:
Pray accept my very sincere thanks for your kindness in remembering my request and in sending me this excellent photograph of Mr. Hay, which I shall always prize as a souvenir of the honor which I had of serving under so distinguished a Secretary of State.
It has given me much pleasure in placing in the pouch for the Embassy at London the little parcel of books which you sent at the same time.
With renewed expressions of appreciation, I remain, my dear Mrs. Hay,
Yours sincerely,
[signature]
