October 4, 1909.
My dear Mr. Denby:
Your letter to Mr. Wilson was received while he was away on his vacation, and his illness coming on just after his return has prevented his making a reply to you personally.
In his absence he has asked me to tell you for him that he thinks it would not be worth while for you to come here now, inasmuch as the Department has no further information than it had when you last called here, and therefore could say nothing more than has already been said to you. He also said that Mr. Murphy's report has not yet come, but that it is likely to be received and acted upon by the end of October.
Very truly yours,
[signature]
Secretary to Mr. Wilson.
