August 28, 1909.
My dear Mr. DuBois:
Your note was received by Mr. Wilson on the eve of his leaving for his vacation and he only had time to read it, but not to sign a letter in reply. He told me, though, to express to you his thanks for your goodness in calling yesterday and to say he was indeed sorry that you got away without his having the opportunity to extend to you personally his best wishes for your further success and achievement.
I think Mr. Wilson well understands the importance of the services of Mr. Bryan, of whom you spoke so highly, and will give the matter in which he is interested very sympathetic consideration.
Yours very sincerely,

James T. DuBois, Esquire,
Care Department of State.
