Abstract

The modern genre of ecopoetry is concerned primarily with the human-caused effects of climate change and environmental degradation and disaster, and uses poetic tradition to advocate for natural preservation and protective environmental policy. "Anthropo-Dreams" is a written collection of twenty ecopoems, based in the local geographies of Montgomery County and the greater Pennsylvania area. Inspired by travel across the state, stopping at local Superfund sites and Brownfields, as well as local points of interest such as the Limerick Generating Station and Centralia PA, "Anthropo-Dreams" navigates the intersections between human beings and their environment, the concept of ecological guilt that haunts our world today, and aims to uncover through poetry a way forward into an environmentally healthy future.
