Edible Books Festival

Myrin Library's 20th Edible Books Festival was held on April 7, 2025.

The contest is open to all students, staff and faculty. Enter as many creations as you wish!

Entries must have a literary connection and should mostly be made from edible ingredients. Entries could look like a book, be a play on its title or be inspired by its contents.

The International Edible Books Festival is held annually around April 1st to commemorate the birthday of French gastronome Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826), famous for his book Physiologie du Goût, a witty meditation on food. Judith A. Hoffberg and Beatrice Coron are credited with originating the idea for a festival in 1999.

Ursinus student Jessica Gallagher brought the idea to Myrin Library in 2005 and it has been a successful event ever since. Each year, Ursinus College students, faculty and staff are invited to submit creations inspired by books or other literary works. Entries are judged by the college community and prizes are awarded.

Collected here are images of the entries submitted since 2005.
