Artist Statement
This series of paintings explores my interests as an artist in realism, as well as in psychology, by confronting uncomfortable feelings through unconventional, accurate representations of food. My main intention in being an artist is to express those indescribable feelings that aren't possible to explain with just words. In doing so, and through the uncomfortable exploration of new mediums and practices, I created these works. The purpose of these paintings is to invoke feelings of unease, and to sit with them, to identify with the paintings through that natural human connection of emotion. The relationship with the art should feel personal, and yet simultaneously like a shared experience between the entirety of mankind. We all share the capability of emotion, yet are often afraid to confront situations which cause us unease. My hope is that through these paintings, slowly we will begin to grow and learn to challenge those fears that continue to hold us back from becoming the truest versions of ourselves.
