Wann wir kaum gebohren werden/Ist vom ersten Lebenstritt/Bis zum kühlen Grab der Erden,/Nur ein kurz gemeß’ner Schritt./Ach! mit jedem Augenblick/Gehet uns’re Kraft zurück;/Und wir sind mit jedem Jahre,/ Alle reif zur Todten=Bahre!
O! wer weiß in welcher Stunde,/Uns die letzte Stimme weckt;/Denn Gott hat’s mit seinem Munde,/Keinem Menschen noch entdeckt!/Wer sein Haus nun wohl bestellt,/Geht mit Freuden aus der Welt:/Da die Sicherheit hingegen,/Ewig’s Sterben kann erregen.
Gottes Friede sei mit/dir und erhalte dich!
Den/Ehegatten/Isaac McHose/und seiner Frau Letitia Susanna/eine geborne Wieder/ist ein Sohn geboren worden, den 10ten/December im Jahr unsers Herrn 1850/Dieser Sohn ist geboren im Hannover/Taunschip in Lecha Caunty,/im Staat Pennsylvanien in/Nord=Amerika, ist getauft worden und erhielt den Namen/ Ambros Allen/den 5 Tag/Januar im Jahr/unsers Herrn 1851 von Herrn J. Dubs/Taufzeugen waren:/Die Großeltern Isaac McHose/und seine Ehefrau Elisabeth/Allentown, Pa./Gedruckt und zu haben bei Blumer, Busch, und Co.
Ich bin getauft! ich steh’ im Bunde,/Durch meine Tauf mit meinem Gott!/So sprech ich stets mit frohem Munde,/In Kreuz, in Trübsal, Angst und Noth,/Ich bin getauft! des freu ich mich,/Die Freude bleibt mir ewiglich!
Ich bin getauft in deinem Namen,/Gott, Vater, Sohn und heil’ger Geist!/Ich bin gezählt zu deinem Saamen,/Zum Volk, das Dir geheiligt heißt./O! welch ein Glück ward dadurch mein!/Herr, laß mich dessen würdig seyn!

God’s peace be with you and receive you!
To both of these spouses, Isaac McHose and his wife Letitia Susanna a born Wieder is a son born, the 10th Day of December in the year of our Lord, 1850. This son was born in Hanover Township in Lehigh County in the state of Pennsylvania in North America, was baptized and received the name Ambros Allen the 5th day of January in the year of our Lord 1851 by Mister J. Dubs. The baptismal sponsors were the grandparents Isaac McHose and his legal wife Elisabeth. Allentown, Pa. Printed and for sale by Blumer, Busch, and Co.

The Footed Letter scrivener could well have decorated this piece because the magenta ink color of the infill and the angels’ dresses are very similar. This artist gets his name from his manner of writing the capital letters M, N, and K with a protruding foot. The Footed Letter scrivener also filled out the Taufschein PAG1998.208
