Farewell my neighbours and my friends,/All them that lov ed me,/I part from you from here to thence/I hope you’ll Come and See 2) If no misfortune do anoy/Among my neighbours here/With Silent grief and hidden Joy/I love them very free I have my Journey now fulfild/My aprenticeship is o’re/My love for them whic h I do feel/I feel it ore and more/ Now Winters here and Summer’s past/So Snow comes on in Showers/And fleeting time has brought at last/My Changeing time and hours I from my mothers land I Came/And up the Country went/And still I mind my fathers name/In my old fathers land. A piece of poetry or verse about your Change/from our Country or neighbourhood to your new/Neighbours and I hope these few lines will find you/happyly settled. No more at present as remains/your sincere well Wisher and humble servent /Christian Sensenich Junr./November the 30 1821

Comment

The verse in the letter speaks of the story of immigration with which many Pennsylvania Germans were familiar. The writer added a colorful floral drawing and music staff to his letter.
