Ursinus College Investment Management Company

Starting with seed money donated by the late Rev. Dr. Harold C. Smith (‘55) in November 2016, the Ursinus College Investment Club began managing a small portfolio of stocks issued by firms with potential for profit growth and minimal risk of bankruptcy. As the funds’ managers learned about the markets and collected donations from other friends of the college and alumni, the fund has grown into a diversified portfolio of stocks, exchange-traded funds and government-issued bonds. In fall semester 2018, fund management became a one-credit course open to any Ursinus student, regardless of major. The course provides invaluable hands-on lessons in teamwork, valuation, the markets, and economics.
