[Dear Eleanor,]

[It is pleasant to sit down and write about the good things on this earth with all the turmoil that is going on right now.]

[My introduction to sports at Ursinus had a fast beginning - lucky enough to walk into a standing position on the hockey team was the start - so many good times evolved from that first encounter - to name a few:]

[area trips to Rhode Island and Williamsburg]

[Driving your tan packard]

[Enjoying "Patches"]

[Washing your blue car]

[Playing hockey against Temple - winning - dinner at Landis home]

[NEVER leave class even tho' Eleanor is late]

[always a few jokes]

[walking on knees into office]

[Penned in after stopping too many times for food and trips]

[Parking ring with coach]

[Trying to discover if coach smoked]

[Warnings on speed traps]

[Using your apartment at Christmas vacation]

[After four full years my association was part-time - playing for the alumni in hockey and basketball. Some very hot basketball games were played at Kendrick. Frank nearly being evicted upon one occasion.]

[Following this team I officiated through the years for Ursinus and kept in touch through hockey and basketball boards.]

[Our big come back was the acceptance of Sandy to Ursinus - the only college she really wanted to attend. Needless to say our contact has been ideal.]

[We are indeed happy to know you will be back at Ursinus. This is not a farewell just a affirmation of our faith and trust in molding youth in coaching and teaching.]

[It really does not seem like thirty-one years. That time has gone fast and you have met it well physically and mentally.]

[I would be remiss if I did not include your devotion to your students. Your complete backing and your interest in them.]

[Frank joins me in sincere congratulations for your long service and outstanding coaching at Ursinus College.]

[Most sincerely,]

[Nancy L. Wood]
