Project Description

My work aims to examine the multiple ethical analyses behind paternalism. Using these analyses, specifically Michael Cholbi’s “Paternalism and Our Rational Powers,” I construct the argument that libertarian paternalism, an attempt to satisfy both libertarians and paternalists, is morally wrong when it replaces the target’s judgment with the paternalist and interferes with the rational will of the target, among other concerns.
