Panel Text
Ever since the 1980s Jeremy Jones AKA “Jay” has been in the food industry. Jay commutes to work from Philadelphia 5 times a week and it takes nearly 6 hours’ round trip if all goes according to plan with the bus. Jay grew up, “In West Philadelphia, same neighborhood as Will Smith”. Jay may not be a Hollywood actor but I can guarantee you Will Smith has nothing on Jay when it comes to making pizza. He has been at Ursinus longer that he can remember but his passion still drives him to come to work and put on a smile no matter what the day throws at him. Jay's passion is simple, making the students’ lives better at Ursinus through the gift of food. Jay may just be the pizza guy at Wismer but to a lot of kids on campus he’s Jay. For the students that do take the time to talk to Jay know how passionate he is at trying to make pizzas that we enjoy. If the menu that day isn’t what he knows we like he changes it because at the end of the day one little slice of heaven can make the rest of a bad day melt like the cheese he puts on his favorite pizza to make: the BBQ chicken bacon pizza. “I like making the BBQ chicken and bacon pizza. It’s easy to make and the kids love it so I enjoy making it”. An all-time favorite not only of mine but most of the students. The world needs more Jays, someone who is always willing to work hard but most importantly cares about what he does, not for the money but for the kids.
