To enable me to answer a purely personal and private inquiry, I venture to ask if you can, without impropriety, furnish me with any information as to the general standing of General A. F. Cheref Spiridovitch, a Russian subject, who is said to be the head of the Slavonic Society of Russia or Moscow, and who is or has bee a General of the Russian Army.
